The decision came hours after Spanish Socialist Prime Minister #PedroSánchez called for Israel to be excluded from cultural and sporting events due to its war on #Gaza. This move is part of a series of steps taken by the Spanish government in opposition to the genocidal war, including canceling military contracts with Israeli companies in recent months and barring ships carrying weapons to Israel from docking in Spanish ports. Spain also previously recognized Palestine as an independent state in May 2024.
