The Directorate of General Security at the Beirut airport confiscated the passport of comedian Toufic Braidi, known as Toufiluk, when he arrived in Lebanon on Monday, on charges of insulting the presidency of the republic. Braidi will appear before the Intelligence Directorate on Tuesday, for a satirical video, which tackled President Michel Aoun. Braidi warned expatriate activists not to return to Lebanon, given the police procedures that are being practiced against anyone who addresses the presidency. The incident, which is reminiscent of General Security's practices during the era of Jamil al-Sayed, comes days after the release of journalist Nada Homsi, whom General Security arbitrarily detained for three weeks.
