On Saturday, activists organized a stand in solidarity with the refugees and migrants (including Lebanese, Palestinians and Syrians) caught at the border between Poland and Belarus. Standing in front of the European Union headquarters in Zkak El-Blat, they called for the borders to be opened, to rescue the trapped people who are facing the risk of death due to malnutrition and the bitter cold. Hundreds of migrants have tried to enter the European Union illegally through the Polish-Belarusian border since last summer. They quickly became pawns in a game of political pressure between the two governments. Several governments have accused Belarus of deliberately creating a migrant crisis by bringing people in from the Middle East and allowing them to cross its borders into the European Union, in order to pressure the latter to lift its sanctions on Belarus.
