Fires spread across Lebanon’s forests In a scene that happens every year, fires broke out early this morning in the Bkassine forest in #SouthLebanon’s Jezzine district, home to the largest #PineForest in the Middle East. While civil defense teams continue their efforts to contain the flames, fires have been ravaging forests in Metula, Hasrout, Zaarourieh and Chhim in the Iqlim al-Kharroub region since yesterday. Another fire broke out in a pine forest between Hammana and Shbaniyeh in the Baabda district. Monday’s Israeli airstrikes also sparked fires in Jarmaq, Mahmoudieh, Aaichiyeh and Khellet Khazem in Jabal al-Rihan, Jezzine district. A fire also broke out in one of the largest oak forests in Shadra, Akkar, northern Lebanon.
