https://video.megaphone.news/videos/watch/145815f6-4aa4-41ca-890f-85bcfbca3948 بعد احتجازٍ دام 104 أيام، تمّ الإفراج عن #محمود_خليل أمس الجمعة، وهو أوّل طالب انقضَّت عليه إدارة ترامب ضمن حملتها الرامية إلى ترحيل الطلّاب غير الأميركيين الذين شاركوا بالمظاهرات الجامعية المناهضة للإبادة. الحملة التي اعتبرَت أنّ خليل يشكّل «خطراً على الأمن القومي»، والتي تجاهلت امتلاكه بطاقةً خضراء، انتهَت خائبةً بعد أن قرّر القضاء الأميركي أن خليل لا يشكّل خطراً كهذا، وأنّ احتجازه بناءً على المصالح السياسية للخارجية الأميركية مخالف للقانون. وكان خليل قد «اختُطف» من تحت منزله في 8 آذار من قبل وكالة إنفاذ قوانين الهجرة، أمام زوجته الحامل التي وضعَت مولودهما وهو داخل الزنزانة. قبل اعتقاله، وجّه خليل رسالةً إلى جامعته، كولومبيا، يطلب فيها الحماية من تهديداتٍ وصلته، لكنّ إدارة الجامعة فضّلت تجاهل الموضوع. He was the first student whom the Trump administration jailed as part of its campaign to deport non-American students taking part in anti-genocide protests. The campaign, which considered Khalil “a threat to national security” and ignored the fact that he held a green card, has now failed after a US judge ruled that Khalil did not pose such a threat and that detaining him based on the political interests of the State Department was unlawful. Khalil was kidnapped by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from under his home on March 8, in front of his pregnant wife, who later gave birth while he was behind bars. Before his arrest, Khalil had sent a letter to #ColumbiaUniversity, where he was a student, asking for protection after receiving threats, but the university ignored the matter.
