https://video.megaphone.news/videos/watch/15bf09c6-d823-428e-bdb8-9f44f8109abe برّرت مديرية الآثار والمتاحف في حلب «نقل» #تمثال_الشهداء من ساحة سعدالله الجابري بذريعة تهييء الساحة لإقامة الفعاليات والنشاطات الشعبية «خصوصاً بعد حجب التمثال لجزء من الرؤية على الشاشة التي تم تركيبها في الساحة مؤخّراً». هذه الذريعة لإزالة رمزٍ تاريخي من رموز مدينة #حلب لم تكن أسوأ ما في الأمر، إذ تمّت عملية «النقل» بشكلٍ عبثي انتهى بتحطّم التمثال، ما أثار جدلاً حول تعمّد ذلك. على وسائل التواصل الاجتماعي، تفاعل السوريون مع الموضوع بين مَن انتقد قلّة المسؤولية في التعامل مع الموضوع، ومَن برّر تحطيم التمثال بذريعة أنّه يمثّل «عراةً» وأنّه في نهاية المطاف «صنم». كان التمثال قد وُضع في الساحة سنة 1985 لتخليد فكرة الشهداء عموماً، إذ لا تمثّل شخصيّاته فئةً اجتماعيةً حصرية. وهو مِن صنع الفنّان السوري عبد الرحمن مؤقت الذي تعمّد استخدام الحجارة الحلبية الصفراء في التمثال. Martyrs' statue in Aleppo “relocated" and destroyed The Directorate-General of Antiquities and Museums in #Aleppo justified the “relocation” of the Martyrs' Statue from Saadallah al-Jabiri Square by claiming it was to prepare the square for public events and activities, especially after the statue "blocks part of the view of a newly installed screen in the square.” But this pretext for removing a historic symbol of Aleppo wasn’t even the worst part: the relocation was carried out carelessly, resulting in the statue’s destruction, sparking debate over whether it was done intentionally. Syrians reacted on social media, with some criticizing the lack of responsibility in dealing with the matter and others justifying the destruction of the statue because it represented “nakedness” and was ultimately just an “idol.” The statue was erected in the square in 1985 to commemorate all martyrs, as its figures do not represent any specific social group. It was created by Syrian artist Abdul Rahman Mowakket, who deliberately used yellow Aleppine stone in its design.
