On Saturday, the guards of Interior Minister Mohammed Fahmi assaulted families of the victims of the port explosion, as they attempted to cross the gate into his residential building. The guards threatened to use their weapons, called for reinforcements, and hit a woman among the protestors. The families insisted on a ten-minute meeting Fahmi, who agreed to their request. The minister received a delegation inside his home, amid threatening shouts of the families due to his refusal of Judge Tarek Bitar's request to lift legal immunity from Director-General of General Security Abbas Ibrahim. The delegation came out of the meeting with Fahmi disappointed, indicating that he attempted to delay and justify.
