Personal bodyguards dispersed a group of protestors in front of Serail restaurant in downtown Beirut by beating them and firing rounds of bullets. The demonstrators were protesting a lavish dinner held in the presence of a number of political figures. Some dinner attendees denied that any guests were politicians, but personalities included Nada Salameh, wife of the Central Bank governor, as well as the wife of MP Fouad Makhzoumi, and a number of officers and army generals. The fight broke out when the car of contractor Jihad Al-Arab’s daughter was intercepted. Bilal Itani, a member of the Governmental Guard, was identified as one of the shooters.
