https://video.megaphone.news/videos/watch/31d7f3b1-a8e9-4a63-a378-cdf0b7092db6 جال وزير الأمن القومي الإسرائيلي، إيتمار بن غفير، أمس الإثنين، على زملائه في الكنيست موزّعاً البقلاوة، عقب إقرار القراءة الأولى لمشروع قانون يُجيز إنزال عقوبة الإعدام بأسرى فلسطينيين تدينهم المحاكم الإسرائيلية بتُهَم «الإرهاب». المشروع الذي قدّمه حزب بن غفير «عوتسما يهوديت»، نال 39 صوتًا مقابل 16 ضدّه، على أن يحتاج إلى ثلاث قراءات لإقراره نهائياً. وينصّ مشروع القانون على أنّ «الشخص الذي يتسبّب عمداً أو بسبب اللامبالاة في وفاة مواطن إسرائيلي، عندما يُرتكب الفعل بدافعٍ عنصري أو بدافع الكراهية ولإلحاق الضرر بإسرائيل، يجب أن يواجه حكم الإعدام»، كما ينصّ على عدم جواز تخفيف عقوبة مَن صدر بحقه حكمٌ نهائي بالإعدام. وسَبَقَ لبن غفير أن شدّد ظروف اعتقال الأسرى الفلسطينيين في السجون الإسرائيلية، فمنع الزيارات وقلّل كميات الغذاء المسموح بها وفرص الاستحمام، كما زار الأسرى مرّاتٍ عدّة، بينهم مروان البرغوثي، مهدّدًا إيّاهم بالإعدام. Baklava to celebrate Palestinian prisoners’ death penalty bill On Monday, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir toured the Knesset, handing out baklava to his colleagues after the first reading of a bill allowing the death penalty for Palestinian prisoners convicted of “terrorism” by Israeli courts was approved. Introduced by Ben Gvir’s party, Otzma Yehudit, the bill passed the first reading with 39 votes in favor and 16 against. However, it still requires two more readings to become law. The bill stipulates that “any person who intentionally or through recklessness causes the death of an Israeli citizen, when motivated by racism, hatred or intent to harm Israel, shall face the death penalty.” It also bars any reduction of the sentence once imposed. Ben Gvir has previously tightened conditions for Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails by banning visits and reducing food portions and shower opportunities. He has also visited prisoners multiple times, including Marwan Barghouti, and threatened them with execution.
