The committee of the families of the Beirut blast’s victims reaffirmed its stance with the investigation, in a new statement it released Saturday. The committee reminded of its confidence in Judge Tarek Bitar who is leading the investigation and insisted on the “necessity that all wanted suspects appear in front of the judge.” According to the committee, spokesperson Ibrahim Hoteit has firmly adopted these stances. The committee expressed doubts concerning the contradictory statement Hoteit read out in a video on Friday, stating that the statement did not represent the families of the victims. The committee hinted that Hoteit might have read it under duress. William Noun, who is also a member of the committee of the families of the firefighter victims, asked security forces to intervene and protect Hoteit from a possible threat. In an interview with VdL radio station, Noun claimed that the threats against Hoteit might have been triggered by the latest statement the committee had issued, which directly contradicted the contents of the last speech by Hezbollah’s Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah.
