On Friday, several demonstrators entered the Ministry of Health seeking Health Minister Firass Abiad to protest his decision to "rationalize" medicine subsidies. The protestors said that Abiad barricaded himself behind the locked door of his office, and listened to their shouts, while they slipped slogans written on cardboard under his door. Security forces came in to keep the protestors away from Abiad's office, so that he could quietly resume, in the steps of his predecessor Hamad Hassan, to lift subsidies on medicine without offering any alternative plan.
