Rodrigue Touma and Toufiq Moawad, who assaulted brothers Johnny and Jacques Barakat at the August 4 commemoration, were released amid a celebratory reception by Lebanese Forces supporters in the Ain El-Remmaneh area. The release order was issued last Friday, after 16 days of detention. An appeal by the Barakat brothers' Lawyers Mazen Hoteit and Nermine Sibaii was rejected. Judge Ghassan Khoury released Touma and Mouawad although the investigation into the the assault on and attempted murder of Mazen Abu Zeid, a case in which they are both implicated, has not been completed. A number of LF supporters attacked a march on Gemmayzeh Street on August 4, after an altercation with supporters of the Communist Party.
