On Saturday night, after nearly 20 hours of search operations, Civil Defense and Lebanese Red Cross teams rescued a mother and her son from the al-Mir family from beneath the rubble of the collapsed building in Tripoli’s Qobbeh neighborhood. The father, however, had died, and his body was recovered earlier. Rescue operations are ongoing to reach the final family member trapped in a different section of the collapsed building. According to the National News Agency, she is unconscious, and the Red Cross has detected her heartbeat. The Tripoli municipality issued an evacuation order for the building just one day earlier due to serious structural cracks that threatened its collapse. However, the family remained in the building because no alternative shelter was available.
