The OEA rises up against the banks | نقابة المهندسين تنتفض ضدّ المصارف https://video.megaphone.news/videos/watch/5a1da5c3-d9aa-4866-a6e6-7700fc08a1d4 بدعوةٍ من نقابة المهندسين، نفّذ مهندسون وناشطون، اليوم السبت، تحرّكات احتجاجية أمام جمعية المصارف في بيروت ومراكز مصرف لبنان في مختلف المناطق، دفاعاً عن أموال صناديق النقابة المحتجزة في المصارف. وقد رفضت نقابة المهندسين تحويل الودائع في الصناديق إلى الليرة اللبنانية وضرب القدرة الشرائية للمستفيدين منها. كما اعتبرت تعاميم مصرف لبنان غير قانونية، وطالبت بوقف المس بمدخرات النقابات والصناديق الاجتماعية، وبتأمين استمرارية واستدامة الصناديق. يذكر أنّه منذ انتخاب نقيب المهندسين عارف ياسين في 18 تمّوز الفائت، افتتحت النقابة مواجهةً مع المصارف التي تحتجز أموال صناديق الاستشفاء والتقاعد، وتقتطع نسباً من التحويلات المصرفية. At the invitation of the Order of Engineers and Architects, protests were held in front of the Association of Banks in Beirut and BDL branches in various regions on Saturday, to defend the OEA's funds held in banks. The OEA refused the conversion of the order's funds into Lebanese pounds, which would greatly limit the purchasing power of beneficiaries. It also deemed BDL circulars illegal, and demanded that union and social funds not be harmed, and that their continuity and sustainability be ensured. Since the election of Aref Yassin as head of the OEA on July 18, the order has been in an open confrontation with the banks, which are withholding the medical and retirement funds and deducting percentages from bank transfers.
