To the judges: In the name of the people, not the system | إلى القضاة: باسم الشعب لا باسم المنظومة https://video.megaphone.news/videos/watch/5d573011-cdab-496f-a515-fd701fde1430 نفّذت مجموعة نون النسائية وقفةً أمام قصر العدل، صباح اليوم الأربعاء، دعماً للمحقق العدلي طارق بيطار واحتجاجاً على عرقلة مسار التحقيق في ملف انفجار مرفأ بيروت. يأتي هذا التحرّك على خلفية بيانٍ أصدره مجلس القضاء الأعلى، الأربعاء الفائت، استهجن فيه «التهجّم» على القضاة، القاضي حبيب مزهر ضمناً، الأمر الذي عارضته المحتجّات بسبب محاولات مزهر السطو على ملفّ ردّ بيطار. وتوجّهت المعتصمات إلى رئيس المجلس سهيل عبود وأعضاء الهيئة العامة في محكمة التمييز «للحكم باسم الشعب وليس المنظومة». يذكر أنَّ القاضي بيطار اضطر لإيقاف التحقيقات منذ 4 تشرين الثاني ريثما يبتّ القضاء بطلب الردّ الذي تقدّم به الوزير السابق المدّعى عليه غازي زعيتر. On Wednesday, the Noon feminist movement held a protest in front of the Justice Palace to express their support of judicial investigator Tarek Bitar and to object to the obstruction of the investigation into the Beirut Port explosion. This move comes in response to a statement issued by the Higher Judicial Council, last Wednesday, which denounced the "attack" on judges (implying Judge Habib Mezher), something that the protesters oppose because of Mezher's attempts to take over the case of Bitar's recusal. Addressing the Speaker of the Council, Suhail Abboud, and members of the General Committee of the Court of Cassation, the protesters asked that they "rule in the name of the people, not the system." Judge Bitar had to suspend his investigations on November 4, pending a decision by the judiciary, after a request for his recusal was submitted by the defendant, former minister Ghazi Zeaiter.
