The film serves as a message to her daughter, who was born during the war. Waad won several awards at the Cannes Film Festival and the British Academy Awards. She also has two other films: We Dare to Dream, which documents the challenges faced by refugee athletes as they compete for a place in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, and Death Without Mercy, about the earthquake that struck Turkey and northern Syria in 2023.
