Palestinian-Syrian artist Bassam Lutfi Suleiman Abu Ghazaleh, known as Bassam Lutfi, passed away at the age of 82 today. He has a long career in the arts that began with the establishment of the National Palestinian Theater in Syria in the 1950s, and the founding of Syrian Television and the Syrian Artists Syndicate. Lutfi was born in Tulkarm in 1940, but his family was exiled when the Arab Liberation Army withdrew after the Nakba in 1948. The Palestinian cause was featured in many of his works, including the films “Rijal Taht al-Shams," "Sa Na'aoud," "Soura," and "Al-Makhdou'oun."
