Public transport drivers blocked roads in several areas across Lebanon since dawn this morning, protesting the absence of support to cope with rising fuel prices, in what they called the “Day of Rage.” The protest took place as the price of diesel reached LBP 410,000, and the price of gasoline increased to LBP 377,800. This week’s second fuel price increase followed a LBP 2,500 increase in the price of the bread bundle, with its weight also cut by 40g. The large bread bundle’s price reached LBP 12,000 in bakeries, with no specific price given to shops. The call to protest came from land transport unions and syndicates, which are controlled by the Amal movement.
