https://video.megaphone.news/videos/watch/77bc0331-7a43-4e68-b046-4c8d0a051966 أعلنت رئاسة الجمهورية، صباح اليوم الأربعاء، تكليف السفير السابق #سيمون_كرم برئاسة الوفد اللبناني المفاوض في اجتماعات «لجنة الميكانيزم» بصفةٍ غير عسكرية. وفي المقابل، كلّفت تل أبيب مسؤولاً من مجلس الأمن القومي الإسرائيلي بالمشاركة في الاجتماعات، علماً أنّ اللجنة تعقد اجتماعاً اليوم بحضور المبعوثة الأميركية، مورغان أورتاغوس. يُذكر أنّ الإدارة الأميركية مارست خلال الأشهر الأخيرة ضغوطاً على الدولة اللبنانية لبدء مفاوضات مباشرة مع إسرائيل وتوسيع مهام لجنة الميكانيزم، التي أُنشئت أساساً لمتابعة تطبيق اتفاق وقف إطلاق النار. وبينما لم تنجح اللجنة في وقف الاعتداءات الإسرائيلية، أو تأمين الانسحاب الإسرائيلي الكامل من لبنان، أو إعادة الأسرى، تتطوّر مهامها اليوم مع مشاركة أعضاء غير عسكريين في اجتماعاتها. Simon Karam to lead Lebanon’s delegation in “mechanism” meetings The Lebanese Presidency announced this morning that former ambassador #SimonKaram was appointed to head Lebanon’s negotiating delegation in the “mechanism” in a non-military capacity. In parallel, Israel assigned an official from its National Security Council to join the talks. The committee is convening today, attended by US envoy Morgan Ortagus. In recent months, the US has pressed Lebanon to begin direct negotiations with Israel and to expand the mandate of the “mechanism” committee, originally created to monitor the implementation of the ceasefire agreement. While the committee has failed to halt Israeli violations, ensure a full Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon, or secure the return of prisoners/hostages, its role is now evolving with the inclusion of non-military members in its meetings.
