Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett ended his visit to Bahrain after meeting with Bahrain King Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa and Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa at the Royal Palace, on his first official visit to Manama. The visit comes after Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz signed a military cooperation agreement with Bahrain on February 4, in the fields of intelligence, equipment trade and military training. Bennett’s visit was met with protests against normalization in Manama, and the launching of the “Bahrain refuses Zionists” campaign, coinciding with the anniversary of the Bahraini revolution that ended in March 2011, when the Bahraini regime called on Saudi and Emirati forces to repress the protests. Bahrain followed in the U.A.E’s footsteps in normalizing with the occupation: the King of Bahrain signed a peace treaty with Benjamin Netanyahu on September 11, 2020, making Bahrain the fourth Arab state to normalize with the Israeli occupation, after Egypt, Jordan and the U.A.E.
