The separation wall is a network of concrete barriers, fences, barbed wire, and military roads that Israel began building in 2002 during the Second Intifada, claiming it was for “security” and preventing attacks. But roughly 80% of the wall runs inside the West Bank, revealing its true purpose: creeping annexation and the geographic and demographic isolation of Palestinian communities.
