The parents of those arrested in the Tayouneh clashes gathered outside the Military Tribunal in Mathaf on Monday, to demand the release of their children. Shops in Furn el-Shebbak and Ain el-Remmaneh also closed today in support of those arrested, against the “bias of the investigation,” and what one of the protest organizers called “selective justice.” The State Commissioner at the Military Court, Judge Fadi Akiki, had summoned 68 people on Monday, in connection with the Tayouneh clashes, filing charges of murder, attempted murder, inciting sectarian strife, incitement, possession of unlicensed military weapons and destruction of private and public property.
