Unrest in Kazakhstan and Putin invades his backyard | كازاخستان تنتفض وبوتين يغزو حديقته الخلفيّة https://video.megaphone.news/videos/watch/a2a396b7-e176-408b-ad21-d5202eb5c2f9 وصلت قوّات روسيّة، اليوم، إلى كازاخستان لمساندة الرئيس الكازاخي قاسم جومارت توكاييف في قمع الاحتجاجات التي تشهدها البلاد منذ الأحد الفائت، إثر ارتفاع أسعار المحروقات. وقد أمر توكاييف قوّاته «ب​إطلاق النار​ من دون سابق إنذار» على مَن وصفهم بـ«الإرهابيّين»، بعدما اعتقلت أجهزته الأمنية أكثر من ثلاثة آلاف متظاهر وقتلت العشرات. وكان المتظاهرون قد استهدفوا المصارف وأحرقوا عدداً من سيّارات الشرطة، وأسقطوا تمثالاً للرئيس السابق نور سلطان نزارباييف الذي حكم البلاد منذ انهيار الاتحاد السوفياتي في 1991 حتّى 2019. وبموازاة القمع، قدّمت الحكومة استقالتها وأعلن توكاييف عزل نزارباييف من منصبه كرئيس لمجلس الأمن القومي، كما وضع سقفاً لأسعار المحروقات لمدّة ستّة أشهر. Russian forces arrived in Kazakhstan today to assist Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in suppressing the protests that erupted in the country last Sunday, following a hike in fuel prices. Tokayev ordered his forces to "shoot without warning" people he described as "terrorists," after security services arrested more than three thousand demonstrators and killed dozens. The protestors targeted banks, torched several police cars, and toppled a statue of former president Nursultan Nazarbayev, who ruled the country from the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991 to 2019. In parallel, the government resigned and Tokayev announced the dismissal of Nazarbayev from his position as Chairman of the State Security Committee. He also capped fuel prices for a period of six months.
