Beirut bids farewell to the northern silos bloc | بيروت تودّع الأهراءات الشماليّة https://video.megaphone.news/videos/watch/a4dac19f-fa41-4b55-8302-ff6961820eec ودّعت بيروت الجزء الشمالي من مبنى أهراءات القمح في مرفأ بيروت اليوم، إذ انهارت الصوامع الأخيرة التي صمدت منذ حزيران بفعل استمرار اشتعال النيران أسفلها، مع إحجام السلطة عن التدخّل لإطفاء الحريق وحماية المبنى المهدّد بالانهيار منذ انفجار 4 آب. ومع سقوط الجزء الشمالي، ينكبّ العمل ابتداءً من اليوم على رفع الردميّات بعد السيطرة على الحريق، وتنظيف مساحة الأهراءات من الحبوب بهدف حماية الجزء الجنوبي من المصير نفسه، بحسب ما أكد وزير البيئة ناصر ياسين لميغافون. وشدّد ياسين على أنه يعمل على إعداد نصّ قرار حماية المبنى الجنوبي والتراجع عن قرار مجلس الوزراء هدم الأهراءات كاملة. وبينما يعقد ياسين اجتماعاً بعد ظهر اليوم ووزيري الأشغال العامة والاقتصاد لمتابعة هذا الملف، دعا أهالي ضحايا انفجار المرفأ إلى وقفة احتجاجية عند الخامسة عصراً أمام تمثال المغترب، للإعلان عن موقف تصعيدي حول الأهراءات بمشاركة عدد من النواب. وكان رئيس الحكومة نجيب ميقاتي قد كلّف ياسين الإشراف على هذا الملف بعد لقاء جمعهما بالنائبَين ملحم خلف ونجاة صليبا الأربعاء الماضي، في حين كانت حكومته قد كلّفت مجلس الإنماء والإعمار الإشراف على هدم الأهراءات كاملة في نيسان الماضي. The authorities have been reluctant to extinguish the uninterrupted fire burning in the northern section and protect the building that has been under threat of collapsing since the August 4 explosion. With the fall of the northern section, work will begin today to remove the rubble after controlling the fire, and to clear the silos of grain in order to spare the southern section the same fate, according to Environment Minister Nasser Yassin's comments to Megaphone. Yassin stressed that he is working on drafting the decision to protect the southern section of the building, and reversing the cabinet's previous decision to demolish the silos completely. While Yassin meets with the ministers of Public Works and Economy this afternoon to follow up on the issue, the families of the port explosion victims will hold a vigil at 5 PM at the Statue of the Emigrant, to announce an escalation of their stance on the silos, with the participation of several members of Parliament.
