Municipal elections begin across Lebanon For the first time since 2016, the first phase of municipal and mukhtar elections began on Sunday in Mount Lebanon, with a voter turnout of 19.46% so far. President #JosephAoun visited the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities in the morning to monitor the elections, led by Interior Minister Ahmad Hajjar and Justice Minister Adel Nassar. The Lebanese Association for Democratic Elections (LADE) has so far reported six violations, including breaches of voting secrecy and electoral silence. LADE also documented that many polling stations were not properly equipped to accommodate voters with disabilities and the elderly. Voting continues today in Keserwan, Aley, Jbeil, Baabda and northern Metn until 7 PM.
