Public vehicle drivers: Strike and blocked roads | سائقو المركبات العموميّة: إضراب وإقفال للطرقات https://video.megaphone.news/videos/watch/ae116a96-44fe-471c-a2f5-522fad4f0826 اعتصم سائقون عموميّون، صباح اليوم الخميس، في عددٍ من المناطق اللبنانية تلبيةً لدعوة اتحاد نقابات قطاع النقل البرّي للإضراب. يأتي هذا الاحتجاج كخطوةٍ تصعيدية بعدما تخلّفت الحكومة عن تنفيذ اتّفاقها مع اتحادات النقل والاتحاد العمّالي العام، والذي قضى بدعم قطاع النقل عبر توفير بنزين ومازوت للسائقين بأسعارٍ مخفّضة ومنحهم مساعدات مالية. وطالب سائقو السيارات العمومية بحماية القطاع من الشركات الوهميّة والسيارات الخصوصية التي تزاول عملهم، إضافةً إلى دمج السائقين العموميّين تحت الفئات المستفيدة من البطاقة التمويلية وإعفائهم من رسوم الميكانيك. Public transport drivers staged a sit-in on Thursday, in a number of Lebanese regions, in response to a call to go on strike issued by the Federation of Land Transport Unions. The protest comes as an escalation measure after the government failed to implement its agreement with the transport unions and the General Labor Union, which was meant to support the transport sector by providing drivers with gasoline and diesel at reduced prices, in addition to financial aid. Public car drivers demanded that the sector be protected from fictitious companies and private cars that are infringing on their work. They also asked that public transport drivers be added to the category of people benefiting from the ration card and that they be exempted from paying vehicle inspection fees.
