General strike in Gabès over industrial complex On Tuesday, the #TunisianGeneralLaborUnion organized a general strike in the province of Gabès to protest the worsening environmental and health damage caused by the industrial complex. The strike included both the public and private sectors but excluded essential services, such as hospitals and pharmacies. Following the strike, a popular march was held outside the union headquarters, with hundreds of residents, union members and lawyers attending. The strike follows ongoing protests and demonstrations rejecting Gabès’s years of chronic neglect.
