Settler kills Palestinian who worked on anti-settlement film Awdah Hathaleen was killed on Monday in the Palestinian village of Umm al-Khair in Masafer Yatta after Israeli settler Yinon Levi opened fire on him. Hathaleen was a well-known anti-settlement activist in the West Bank and contributed to the Oscar-winning film #NoOtherLand. He was also a teacher, a football player on the village team and a father of three. The killer, Levi, is on a #US sanctions list for previous acts of violence. He was accompanying a bulldozer demolishing Palestinian homes in the area when he pulled out his weapon and shot Hathaleen in the chest in broad daylight. The crime comes amid an escalating campaign by settlers, backed by the Israeli army, to seize the #WestBank and forcibly displace its residents.
