Hany Shaker, head of Egypt's Musicians Syndicate, banned working with Egyptian rapper Marwan Pablo on Saturday, after a concert he held with Palestinian rapper Shabjdeed on Friday in Cairo that was attended by more than 20,000 people. During the concert, Shabjdeed adapted the religious invocation "Moulay, I am at your door," which Baligh Hamdi put to music for Sheikh Sayed al-Naqshbandi, and replaced "Moulay" by "Marwan" to express his appreciation for Pablo, who is back to rapping after a 2-year hiatus. The syndicate considered this step as a breach of "morals and good customs," forcing Shabjdeed to issue an apology to the Egyptian public.
