https://video.megaphone.news/videos/watch/bd8bdcee-cac8-4007-88b6-9c01b78275b1 تمكّن عناصر الدفاع المدني من إخماد الحريق المشتعل أمام وأسفل الجزء الشمالي من مبنى الأهراءات، اليوم الخميس بعد أسبوعٍ من بدايته. وقد أُخمِدَ الحريق بخراطيم المياه، وبواسطة الرفوش، علماً أنّ تبريرات المعنيّين استبعدت خلال هذا الأسبوع إمكانية ذلك، وفضّلوا ترك الحريق بحاله. وبدا لافتاً استغلال وزير الأشغال علي حمية مسألة الحريق، أمس الأربعاء، لتمرير فكرة هدم الأهراءات بذريعة تهوئة الحبوب المخمَّرة ومنع تكرار اشتعالها. جاء ذلك بعدما أوضح الدفاع المدني أنّ «​​أي تدخل لإطفاء الحريق المذكور سواء بواسطة المياه أو مواد الإطفاء سيؤجّل المشكلة لبضعة أيام لتعود النار والدخان لإنتاج آثار جديدة». وكانت قد نُظّمت أمس وقفةٌ احتجاجية على هذا الإهمال، أمام المرفأ، حيث أبدى المشاركون تخوّفهم من أن يكون الحريق مفتعلاً كتمهيدٍ للمباشَرة بهدم الأهراءات، أو لتركها تسقط بمفردها بسبب الإهمال. من جهته، أكّد وزير الاقتصاد أمين سلام، خلال جولته على المرفأ، أنّ الحكومة «كانت قد علّقت قرار الهدم»، لكن هذه الخطوة لم تترافق مع قرار تدعيم الأهراءات التي تُركَت عرضةً للإهمال. On Thursday, the Civil Defense put out a fire that has been burning for a week at the northern side of the silos in the Beirut port. The fire was extinguished using water hoses and shovels. Officials had ruled out the possibility of putting out the fire and preferred to let it burn. On Wednesday, Public Works Minister Ali Hamie took advantage of the continuing fire to suggest demolishing the silos, under the pretext of aerating the fermented grain and preventing the recurrence of a blaze. His comment came after the Civil Defense clarified that “any intervention to extinguish the fire, whether by water or extinguishing agents, will postpone the problem for a few days, but the fire and smoke will return to produce new effects.” Yesterday, a protest was held at the port gates. Participants expressed their fears that the fire might be a prelude to demolishing the silos, or to letting them collapse, due to negligence.
