The fate of Iranian athlete Elnaz Rekabi is still unknown. She landed in Iran at dawn on Wednesday, and was hailed as a hero by crowds gathered at the airport, for not wearing a veil in the Asian competitive climbing cup. Iranian state TV got an exclusive statement from Rekabi who said her actions were “unintentional,” as she was called to participate unexpectedly while she was busy putting on her gear.
