https://video.megaphone.news/videos/watch/c9c79e6a-2457-499d-8268-62e830712fb5 رحّبت محمية أرز الشوف بأربعة وعول جبلية (الوعل النوبي) وُلدت حديثاً، ليرتفع عدد قطيع الوعول المتواجد في لبنان إلى 44. ما زالت الوعول الصغيرة في منطقة مسيّجة بين الخريبة وعانا لمتابعة نموّها عن كثب، قبل إطلاقها في البرّية. وتأتي هذه الخطوة في سياق حملة تقودها المحمية لإعادة توطين هذا الصنف في البلد، بعد أن غاب لمئة عامٍ من الزمن. وكانت إدارة المحمية قد استقدمت 12 وعلاً من هذا الصنف في العام 2017 من الأردن، ليرتفع عددها إلى 26 وعلاً في العام 2022، و44 اليوم. ويُعدّ هذا الوعل جزءاً من الدورة الإيكولوجية الطبيعية في المنطقة، وهو «لا يرعى بشكلٍ جائر، بل «يساهم في تنظيف الأحراج، ما يساهم بتجدّد الغطاء النباتي بصورة صحية، والوقاية من الحرائق». Four new Nubian ibexes born in Lebanon The Shouf Cedars Reserve welcomed four newly born Nubian ibexes, bringing the number of ibex in Lebanon to 44. The young ibexes are still in a fenced area for close monitoring of their growth between Khraybeh and Aana before they are released into the wild. The reserve has been working on reintroducing the species to the country after a century-long absence. In 2017, the Shouf Cedars Reserve brought in 12 ibexes from Jordan. By 2022, the number had increased to 26, and it now stands at 44. The species play an important role in the region's natural ecological cycle: They don't overgraze, but rather help clear forests, which supports the healthy regeneration of vegetation and helps prevent wildfires.
