The strikes come after the army announced an operation to “decisively” end the battle against Hamas in the city. The Government Media Office said Gaza City contains more than 51,500 buildings and residential towers, and that their destruction is part of a plan to forcibly displace civilians to so-called “safe areas,” which make up less than 12% of the Strip.
