Artists and media in Lebanon appear to be confused about the difference between a crime "scene" and a crime "spectacle." Production companies are vying for the biggest production, television channels are competing for the strongest scoop, and singers are facing off over the most dramatic background for their video clip. The common thread linking these works is that they avoid referring to the criminal on one hand, and seek to distance themselves from criticism by hiding behind such phrases as "This work was carried out in the presence of the victims’ families" or "dedicated to the victims of the explosion."
