https://video.megaphone.news/videos/watch/d4b80c7c-75c5-4d02-b4aa-9e014f90d1f1 أُطلِقَت «الحملة التضامنية لحماية أهراءات مرفأ بيروت»، اليوم الإثنين، مع مرور 23 شهراً على انفجار الرابع من آب. جاء ذلك في مؤتمرٍ صحفي عُرضَت فيه أسباب «المحافظة على موقع انفجار 4 آب، تخليداً لذكرى الضحايا، ورفضاً لهدم مبنى الأهراءات». واعتبرت الحملة أنّ السلطة تستقصد تغيير المشهد الذي رسمه الانفجار «لمحو كل ما يتناقض مع الصورة التي تريد أن تعرضها ومحاولة تنظيف المدينة من مقوّماتها أو رمزيتها السياسية، كجزءٍ من الصراع الدائم على المدينة». كما انتقدت النزعة الدائمة لاستثمار «كل شبر بمشاريع سيكون لها تأثير كبير على إيقاع البناء وسعره»، من دون أي مقاربة شاملة. وعرضت الحملة بين أهدافها التصدّي لقرارات هدم مبنى الأهراءات، والاعتراف بها كجزء من التراث الثقافي والمحافظة عليها كنصب تذكاري. كما أعلنت أنّها ستحضّر لمسابقة معماريّة دوليّة لتحويل الموقع إلى نصب تذكاري مع مخطط إعادة تأهيل المرفأ، وتحضير دفتر شروط لإجراء ‏دراسة تقييم إنشائيّة وتدعيم ما تبقى من منشآت الأهراءات. وتضمّ الحملة عدّة مجموعات مدنية وخبراء، بينها جمعية أهالي ضحايا انفجار مرفأ بيروت وأهالي شهداء فوج إطفاء بيروت، ونقابة المهندسين في بيروت، والمفكرة القانونية. “The Solidarity Campaign for Protection of Beirut Port Silos” was launched Monday, 23 months after the August 4 explosion, during a press conference in which the reasons for “preserving the site of the explosion in commemoration of the victims, and refusing to destroy the silos” were presented. Campaign members stated that the authorities were purposely seeking to transform the area “in order to erase anything that contradicts the image which they are trying to project, and is an attempt to remove Beirut’s political components or symbolism as part of the permanent struggle over the city.” They also criticized the recurring tendency to exploit “every inch in projects that will heavily affect the pace and price of construction,” without any comprehensive approach. The campaign seeks to stop the silos’ demolition, to have them be recognized as part of the cultural heritage and preserve them as a memorial. It will also be applying for an international architectural competition to transform the area into a memorial, while also rehabilitating the port, preparing a rulebook to conduct a structural evaluation study, and strengthening the remaining silo structures.
