The people of the West Bank expressed their rejection of Mahmoud Abbas' authority, chanting the same slogans of Arab revolutions: “The people want to overthrow the regime,” and “Abbas, leave.” The Palestinian Authority arrested Nizar Banat more than eight times because of his critical opposition to the authorities before nominating him for the Legislative Council.
