https://video.megaphone.news/videos/watch/d732b687-f613-40bc-8aa0-b3c0297a07d3 وافق الاتّحاد الأوروبي، أمس الثلاثاء، على قرارٍ يُلزم كافة شركات التصنيع اعتماد نموذج واحد من الشواحن من نوع «سي» (USB-C) للمنتجات المُباعة في الاتحاد الأوروبي. يطال القرار الهواتف الذكية والأجهزة المحمولة بدءاً من عام 2024، على أن يشمل أيضاً الحواسيب المنقولة بدءاً من عام 2026. وقد اعترض 13 نائباً فقط على القرار، مقابل 602 موافقةً، لكنّ المعارضة الفعلية جاءت من خارج الاتّحاد، ممثّلةً بشركة «آبل» كونها تعتمد شواحن من نوع آخر، أبرزها شاحن «لايتنينغ» بنسبة 21٪ من مجموع الشواحن المُباعة عام 2018. القرار الذي أبصر النور بعد عقدٍ من العمل عليه، يخفّض النفايات البيئية الالكترونية بحسب الاتّحاد الأوروبي، ويوفّر على المُستهلكين ما قيمته 250 مليون يورو سنوياً، بسبب اضطرارهم لشراء شواحن جديدة لدى استبدال أجهزتهم المحمولة. On Tuesday, the European Union passed a resolution requiring all manufacturing companies to adopt a single USB-C model for all chargers of products sold in the E.U. The decision applies to all smartphones and mobile devices starting in 2024, and mobile computers starting 2026. Only 13 MPs voted against the decision, compared to 602 who approved it, but the real opposition came from outside the union: from Apple, as the company uses other types of chargers, most notably the lightning charger, which accounted for 21% of all chargers sold in 2018. The decision came into being after a decade of work, and according to the E.U., reduces electronic environmental waste.
