https://video.megaphone.news/videos/watch/d7c78a87-8d30-42c4-b5aa-9dbdd5ca4b54 بشكلٍ متعمّد وعن سابق تصوّر وتصميم، خرّب مالك أحد العقارات في منطقة #كفرعبيدا التلّ الأثري المعروف، والذي يتجاوز عمره 5 آلاف سنة، بما وُصف بـ«الجريمة الثقافية». تذرّع المُجرم بأنّه يملك رخصةً من البلدية السابقة، وكتاباً من وزير الثقافة السابق محمد مرتضى (من دون موافقة مديرية الآثار)، غير أنّ الرخصة كما الكتاب يمنعان بشكلٍ واضح أعمال الجرف من دون حضور مبعوث من وزارة الثقافة أو مديرية الآثار، وهو الأمر الذي لم يحصل. تدخّلت البلدية الحالية فور علمها بالأمر، بعد تبليغها من قبل ناشطين في المنطقة. وقد تمّ توقيف الأشغال بالتنسيق مع مديرية الآثار وقوى الأمن الداخلي، وحُجزَت الجرّافة، مع طلب إحالة المتورّطين إلى القضاء. ثم حضرت البعثة التي عملت على التلّ في السابق كي تُعاين أضرار اليوم، بحضور رئيسها السيّد هرمن غنز (الشخص الذي يظهر في الفيديو أثناء تفقّد الموقع). والتلّ جزء من قرية تعود للعصر البرونزي، اكتشفها طالب آثار بالصدفة بين عامَي 2004 و2005، ثم عمل عليها فريق مختصّ من الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت، وقد خضعت المنطقة لعمليّات تنقيب طيلة 18 سنة؛ أمّا نتائج البحث فقد كشفت أنّ «الموقع كان مأهولاً منذ الـ2,700 ق.م.». هذا الموقع، اختفى اليوم بسبب جرّافةٍ واحدة والكثير من الجشع. 5,000-year-old archaeological site destroyed in Kfar Abida In an act described as a “cultural crime,” a property owner in Kfar Abida deliberately and premeditatively destroyed a well-known archaeological site over 5,000 years old. The owner claimed to have a permit from the former municipality and a letter from the former Minister of Culture, Mohamed Murtada; however, neither document included approval from the General Directorate of Antiquities. The permit and letter clearly prohibit excavation or leveling without a Ministry of Culture or Directorate of Antiquities representative present—a requirement that was ignored. The municipality responded immediately after local activists reported the incident. In coordination with the General Directorate of Antiquities and the Internal Security Forces, work was halted, the bulldozer was confiscated and a request was made to refer those responsible to the judiciary. The team that had previously worked on the mound arrived to assess the damage, led by Hermann Genz, who is seen in the video inspecting the site. The mound is part of a Bronze Age village that was accidentally discovered by an archaeology student between 2004 and 2005. A specialized team from the American University of Beirut then excavated the site over the course of 18 years. Research revealed that the site had been inhabited since 2700 BCE. Today, the site has been destroyed by a single bulldozer and sheer greed.
