Citizens gathered in Martyrs’ Square to protest mandatory vaccination and in support of freedom of choice on Saturday, even though the vaccine is not mandatory in Lebanon. The demonstration was called for by the General Labor Union in Lebanon headed by Maroun al-Khauli, which also provided transport for participants. The Health Ministry, in turn, is holding a marathon today to vaccinate students, members of the education sector and anyone willing to take the vaccine, two days before schools are due to reopen, as positive cases near 8,000 per day.
