https://video.megaphone.news/videos/watch/d8f191db-1676-4238-91d2-1a111af4eded أصدر مجلس الوزراء قرار هدم أهراءات مرفأ بيروت، بعد جلسة اليوم الخميس، وذلك بالاستناد إلى دراسةٍ لشركة خطيب وعلمي، علماً أنّ الدراسة خلُصَت إلى «أنّه لا يبدو أنّ هناك خطر وشيك من الانهيار الشامل للأهراءات». كما كانت الشركة قد أوصت، في دراسةٍ سابقة، بهدم الأهراءات عبر التفجير، ما سيُخضع المدينة لتروما جديدة. ويتعاطى القرار الحالي مع الأهراءات كجزءٍ واحد، مع ادّعاءٍ كاذب مفاده أنّها «تشكّل خطراً على السلامة العامة»، علماً أنّ كافّة التقارير تتقاطع لناحية مَتانة الجزء الجنوبي من الأهراءات وعدم تشكيله أي خطر، وهو جزءٌ مفصولٌ إنشائياً عن الجزء الشمالي. وقد نفى وزير الإعلام في معرض الإجابة على الأسئلة أن تكون الحكومة قد تشاورت مع الأهالي. كما أعلن أنّ «كلفة التدعيم أعلى من كلفة الهدم»، علماً أنّه لا يوجد حتّى اليوم رقمٌ بكلفة التدعيم، وهو ما يجب أن يكون متوفّراً قبل اتّخاذ أي قرار. وقد قدّمت توصية الهدم اللجنة التي يرأسها وزير العدل، وكلّفت الحكومة مجلس الإنماء والإعمار الإشراف على عملية الهدم، ووزارة الثقافة والداخلية إقامة نصب لتخليد ذكرى الضحايا. سيساي ارتفاع النصب ارتفاع الأهراءات الحالية (50 متراً)، وسيتوّج بمنحوتةٍ مثيرة للجدل من إعداد رودي رحمة. يُذكَر أنّ وزير الثقافة كان قد وضع مبنى الأهراءات على لائحة الجرد منعاً لهدمها، قبل أن يتراجع بشكل مفاجئ، ما يوحي بوجود سمسرات تطال صفقة الهدم. The government issued a decision to demolish the Beirut port silos after its cabinet session on Thursday, based on a study by Khatib & Alami, even though that same report concluded that “there appears to be no imminent danger of overall collapse of the silos.” The company had also recommended demolishing the silos through bombing in a previous study, which will no doubt traumatize the city and its people once again. The current decision treats the silos as one structure, falsely claiming that “they pose a danger to public safety,” although most reports agree that the southern part is safe, and is structurally separate from the northern part of the silos. When answering questions, the Information Minister denied that the government spoke to the families of victims. He also stated that “the reparation cost is higher than the demolition cost,” although there is still no figure for the reparation cost, and the calculation should have been done before making any decision. The committee headed by the Justice Minister recommended the demolition, and the government tasked the Council for Development and Reconstruction with supervising the demolition. Both the culture and interior ministries will take care of erecting a monument to commemorate the victims. The monument’s height is the same as the silos (50M), and will be topped with a controversial sculpture by Rudy Rahme.
