Head of the Strong Lebanon bloc Gebran Bassil presented a series of inaccuracies relating to the Beirut port explosion in a TV interview yesterday. He denounced the political and electoral exploitation of the investigation, as he confirmed the protection of the suspects. Bassil identified three main parties responsible for the explosion –– the judiciary, the port administration and security forces, headed by the army –– but he defended the suspects affiliated with the Free Patriotic Movement, such as the head of State Security, Tony Saliba, and Badri Daher, head of Lebanese Customs.
