Today, activists documented the Butlers Beach Club in #Batroun illegally taking over more of the public coastal area by bulldozing it. According to the Nahnoo Organization, this area was a resting place for turtles and a route for athletes to access the sea. In an interview with Megaphone, Mohammad Ayoub, the head of the Nahnoo Organization, stressed that those behind such encroachments often justify their actions by citing permits obtained from the Ministry of Public Works. However, he clarified that, legally, public coastal property can only be leased through a Cabinet-issued decree—something currently on hold. Ayoub identified the violator as Shafiq Saab, the owner of the neighboring Marea resort who leased the site to the Butlers Beach Club. Today's videos show bulldozing that alters the land's natural state, going far beyond the temporary, non-permanent additions typically allowed by the Ministry of Public Works.
