Her role as MP did not stop Cynthia Zarazir from following in the footsteps of other depositors; she was able to retrieve some of her deposit from Byblos Bank after protesting for hours in the Antelias branch, to cover the cost of a scheduled surgery costing $8,500. Zarazir left the bank without specifying the amount she was able to withdraw, as she abided by banks’ policies forcing depositors who take their money back by force not to disclose the amounts they received. MPs Halimé Al-Kaakour and Yassin Yassin showed solidarity with Zarazir, joining the protest outside Bank Byblos.
